The Rutland Hall was buzzing on Saturday, February 7, 2026, as card players gathered for the 30th Annual Anderson Pinochle Tournament. Players arrived bright and early, ready to shuffle, bid, meld, and hopefully come away with bragging rights!

A total of 48 teams battled it out through a full day of pinochle action. The standings stayed tight throughout the tournament, keeping everyone on their toes. Players—and a few loyal spectators—also took a well-deserved break at noon to enjoy a delicious lunch of scalloped potatoes.

By the time the final cards were played, Roger McLaen and Sue Seelye had pulled ahead to claim the top spot and tournament victory!

Other teams finishing among the top contenders included Hilary Mehrer, LeDora Wohler, Al Pederson, Turk Nelson, Paul Gabriel, DeeDee Cookson, Corinne Hanson, Becky Chapin, Brenda Wycoff, Wade Anderson, Sam Smith, and Roger and Benita Ziegler.

And talk about a close finish! Ray Hogness and Dave Hogness missed out on the prizes by a mere two points—proof that every point (and every card!) counts!

Congratulations to all the players for another fun-filled day of friendly competition, good food, and plenty of pinochle spirit. Here’s to 30 years—and many more hands to come!
