Rutland was well represented at the Sargent Central School Veterans Day program on Thursday, November 9. The American Legion Bergman-Evenson Post #215 was the Color Guard, with Commander Larry Christensen, Tom Manley and Roger McLaen.  Many Rutland residents attended to help honor our Veterans from the area. The school youth put on a wonderful program which had a record attendance from parents, relatives, and veterans. The Teller is covering the event with photos so be sure to check out that news as well.

On Monday, November 13^th, the Rutland Seniors celebrated the birthday “kids” of the month – Mark Wyum and Phyllis Wyum. Mark stopped in for the birthday photo opp and then headed out to the field for harvest work. Phyllis is such a busy lady that she was unable to attend and partake in the delicious and festive birthday cake.

The District 28 Dem-NPL Party will meet on Monday, November 20^th, at Rutland City Hall at 7 p.m. with a social gathering before the monthly Zoom meeting. They will discuss last year’s legislative changes, upcoming events, and updates to the 28for28 Club for District fundraising. Feel free to attend the social and stay for the meeting.

Friday, December 1 – The Lariat Bar trivia contest starts at 7 p.m. and there is no limit to the number of members per team. The prize will be a $50 Lariat Bar gift card. Start getting your team together for a fun competition.  The contests will be held on the first Friday in January, February, and March too!

Saturday, December 2 – Santa Day from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rutland Hall. There will be bingo and activities for all ages with a spaghetti supper. Be sure to come and get your photos taken with Santa. Santa Day is always a jolly good time in Rutland!

Sunday, December 3 – The Rutland-Cayuga Fire District volunteer fireman free-will pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rutland Town Hall AND the Rutland American Legion Auxiliary free-will bake sale.

Monday, December 4 – Rutland City Council public hearing at 5 p.m.on the intent to establish a citywide street improvement district in accordance with Rutland Home Rule Charter #8. The city received a grant through the State Department of Transportation with some federal funding to replace the sidewalk from Front to Gay/Arthur Street on the east and west side of First street. That is the area from the Walock-Johnson insurance building to the old store on the east side and the same area across the street. The regular monthly Council meeting will convene following the public hearing.

Thursday, December 14 – The Sargent County Senior Citizens December meeting starting at 2 p.m. at the Rutland Senior Center. The Christmas Party will start at 3 p.m. with food and bingo. Be sure to come join the fun.
